Encadrés par les salariés, les membres effectuent un shift bénévole de 2h45 chaque mois afin d’assurer le fonctionnement quotidien de l’enseigne. En contrepartie, ceux-ci peuvent réaliser leurs courses au sein du supermarché et accéder à des produits de qualité à moindre coût grâce à une marge unique de 28,25 %, soit un peu moins que dans la plupart des magasins bio.</p>\n

<p>Bab’l Market remplit ses rayons en suivant une charte de produits établie en collaboration avec ses membres au lancement du projet. La grande majorité des produits proposés sont certifiés bio, à l’exception de la viande et du fromage. Les produits issus du circuit court représentent 30 % du volume d’achat du magasin, tandis que les 70 % restants sont acheminés via des grossistes bio. « <em>Actuellement, on ne sait vraiment pas se passer des grossistes ; logistiquement c’est trop compliqué</em> », concède la chargée de communication.</p>\n

<p>À ce stade, il est encore trop tôt pour évaluer les effets de cette mesure, mais depuis l’annonce, quatre membres ont déjà pris part au projet via ce système de cotisation. Selon l’ASBL, il s’agit de personnes qui réalisent des courses « familiales » générant des revenus « non négligeables » pour le magasin. D’après les estimations du Bab’l Market, une trentaine de membres supplémentaires, effectuant des achats à hauteur de 200 euros par mois, seraient nécessaires afin d’atteindre l’équilibre budgétaire.</p>\n

<p>Ce changement de modèle ne fait toutefois pas l’unanimité au sein de l’enseigne bruxelloise. Certains membres craignent que le supermarché n’y perde son identité et ses valeurs initiales de « petit projet de quartier ». Ainsi, lors de la dernière assemblée générale, les discussions ont été animées à propos de l’avenir du modèle des shifts. Si un grand nombre de membres (actuels ou futurs) se tournent vers la cotisation au détriment du bénévolat, le magasin pourrait en effet manquer de volontaires, pourtant bien nécessaires au fonctionnement du projet. <p>Bab’l Market remplit ses rayons en suivant une charte de produits établie en collaboration avec ses membres au lancement du projet. La grande majorité des produits proposés sont certifiés bio, à l’exception de la viande et du fromage. <p>À ce stade, il est encore trop tôt pour évaluer les effets de cette mesure, mais depuis l’annonce, quatre membres ont déjà pris part au projet via ce système de cotisation. Selon l’ASBL, il s’agit de personnes qui réalisent des courses « familiales » générant des revenus « non négligeables » pour le magasin. D’après les estimations du Bab’l Market, une trentaine de membres supplémentaires, effectuant des achats à hauteur de 200 euros par mois, seraient nécessaires afin d’atteindre l’équilibre budgétaire.</p>\n

<p>Ce changement de modèle ne fait toutefois pas l’unanimité au sein de l’enseigne bruxelloise. Certains membres craignent que le supermarché n’y perde son identité et ses valeurs initiales de « petit projet de quartier ». Ainsi, lors de la dernière assemblée générale, les discussions ont été animées à propos de l’avenir du modèle des shifts. Si un grand nombre de membres (actuels ou futurs) se tournent vers la cotisation au détriment du bénévolat, le magasin pourrait en effet manquer de volontaires, pourtant bien nécessaires au fonctionnement du projet. Il faudrait alors engager du personnel supplémentaire pour compenser ce déficit, une solution difficilement envisageable, même avec des moyens financiers accrus. « <em>Mais depuis que la mesure est en place, aucun bénévole n’est passé à la cotisation</em> », se rassure Lucile Howet.</p>\n
